I write about the decorative arts, particularly those of Europe and north America after 1850. My main interest is in ceramics and I’m particularly interested in the place where art and manufacturing meet. I’m a trustee and a selected member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen, the multi-craft society whose founding presidents were Walter Crane and William Morris. It’s now one of the leading organisations promoting the crafts in Britain, representing the best designer makers in the country.
